How to Ask Siri to Share Your ETA When Navigating With Apple Maps

by

In iOS 14, Apple has greatly expanded the number of direct answers Siri can give you. The majority of these answers are thanks to enhanced web-based information, but some of it is also down to ‌Siri‌'s tighter integration with other Apple apps.

For example, the Apple Maps app lets you share your estimated time of arrival when you're following turn-based driving directions, and now you can ask ‌Siri‌ to share it for you, handsfree. Here's how it works.

  1. Launch the Maps app on your iPhone.
  2. Search a turn-based driving navigation route and tap Go.
  3. Invoke ‌‌Siri‌‌ on your ‌iPhone‌ or iPad with the usual "Hey ‌Siri‌" voice command or through a physical button.
  4. Now say "Share my ETA with [contact's name]."
  5. If there are multiple people in your contacts that share the same first name, ‌Siri‌ will read them out to you and ask you which one you want to share it with. Say their full name.

That's all there is to it, and it works regardless of whether you're in the Maps app or not. If you want to stop sharing your ETA with someone, simply say "Hey Siri, stop sharing my ETA with [contact's name]."
