New Apple TV 4K and iPad Mini: RAM Amounts Revealed

Increase in RAM to 12 for the iPad mini is good. Overall the new mini iPad is a good iPad. Would have been fantastic if it had 120Hz.

Good iPad, bad price.

Is that option to get a “lock-screen-ad supported” tablet real? Please tell me this is edited.

I saw this and had to go check myself, and sure enough…

Bad price because of the RAM situation. I hope it gets better in a few years.

I am really excited for the new Apple TV 4K because hopefully it's significantly faster on all fronts. I have a first generation 4K, it's not great, very slow and janky. Random app crashes semi-frequently (even Apple first party apps like TV)

And this matters why? Tell me what my new Apple TV is going to do with or without the extra RAM. This is a black box (literally and metaphorically) with a specific function and although it is interesting to know, I am more interested in what it will do for me.

People speculate but do not relate it to real life functions. Apple have done a lot to try a make people ignore the actual hardware used to achieve a function because they know that it is the integration of hardware and software that matters and how the product behaves. I use as an example the Neo. The 8GB of RAM has caused considerable angst among those that believe the you must have a given amount of ram without having the vaguest understanding of how the software handles things like disk swapping etc. in Mac OS. If the use of the device has limitations then you can investigate and maybe it is the ram size or maybe the SSD access speed, who knows but there are no rules here without knowing the whole picture.

Sorry this information has nothing to contribute unless I know why more RAM in an Apple TV would help. I don't care unless I cannot do something I want to do or the device performance suffers.
