iPhone 17 Air and iPhone XR Rumored to Have One Thing in Common

Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Air model coming later this year could have something in common with the iPhone XR from 2018.

According to a recent post from Jon Prosser, who runs the YouTube channel Front Page Tech, the iPhone 17 Air will have such a thin design that the USB-C charging port will not be perfectly centered on the bottom of the device. Prosser said the USB-C port will be positioned closer to the back side of the device than the front.

While multiple iPhone models have had slightly off-center charging ports over the years, the quirk was particularly noticeable on the iPhone XR.

Not a big deal, of course.

According to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 17 Air will measure just 5.5mm at its thinnest point, but the device's rumored rear camera bar will be thicker. Other rumored features include a 6.6-inch OLED display with the Dynamic Island, ProMotion support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate, an A19 chip, Apple Intelligence support, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, an Apple-designed 5G modem, and more.

The device is expected to have some compromises due to its ultra-thin design, including only a single speaker and no SIM card slot worldwide.

Apple should announce the iPhone 17 Air in September.
