iPhone 18 Pro Sales Jump in China Ahead of iPhone Duo Launch

Duo sales in China will be huge.

It’s bound to become an instant status symbol in a market where status carries a lot of weight.

The 17 pro series was announced alongside the 17. So the sales the pro series were significantly cannibalized by the 17, which is probably the best value iPhone in 5 years (remains to be now).

My guess is the “appetite” for foldables will increase dramatically now that Apple has entered the market due to Apple’s demographics.

While I will be buying the Duo, I do think it’s inexcusable that Apple spent so much time developing a rather unremarkable, copycat device with missing features at launch, such as Apple pencil support and the inability to move the dock or add to it.

The WSJ is reporting ('https://www.wsj.com/business/telecom/apples-biggest-battleground-for-foldable-phones-is-china-a15b9663') that foldables are already seeing a spike in demand in China since the Duo's announcement. Also, "Foldables are still a relatively niche product, making up roughly 4% of smartphone sales in China and about 2% globally, according to Counterpoint." That means they are essentially, on average, twice as popular in China as the rest of the world. 4% might not seem like a lot, but the smartphone market is huge in China so that is still a lot of devices. If Apple captures only 1% of the Chinese market with the Duo, that's going to be a lot of phones.

Hopefully the stock price will be break all time highs again.

iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max are good devices. Think the Duo will sell well globally and not just in China.
