Apple Becomes Second Company to Close Above $5 Trillion

All it took was a $300 Apple TV!! Incredible.

Yet they still charge nearly 100% more for the new Apple TV and 50% more for the HomePod Mini. Absolute rip-offs.

They got there by selling about 100 Duos.

This is just another indicator that inflation is really getting out of control. Another is the price of gold. It wasn't that long ago that gold was selling at $2,000 per ounce. Now it's over $4,000 per ounce. I fear we're in for a really bad time.

Apple today closed with a market capitalization above $5 trillion, making it the second company to do so after Nvidia.




As noted by The Wall Street Journal, Apple's market cap has exceeded $5 trillion ('https://www.macrumors.com/2026/07/28/apple-just-became-a-5-trillion-company/') six times before today during intraday trading, but this is the first time the company stayed above the mark at closing.

Apple closed at $342.96, for a market cap of $5.005 trillion. The new valuation comes just over a month after John Ternus took over for Tim Cook as Apple CEO, and two days ahead of iPhone Duo pre-orders.

While Apple surpassed Nvidia to briefly become the most valuable company in the world in July, Nvidia has since retaken the title and continues to hold the top spot with a market cap of $5.33 trillion.

I feel like Apple’s priorities have shifted from delivering exceptional products that maximize customer satisfaction at a premium, yet still reasonable, price to becoming just another tech giant focused on meeting quarterly growth targets and keeping investors happy.


It’s disappointing to see Apple lose some of the magic that once made it special, seemingly in favor of maximizing shareholder value. I’ve waited years for Apple to finally release an Apple TV at a reasonable price, and this is honestly a letdown. I miss the days when Apple seemed more focused on creating products people genuinely loved rather than simply driving stock prices higher.
