A lot of people would upgrade their Apple TV 4K (1st generation, 2017) or older, if Apple actually released new hardware. No one is going to buy the 2022 model in 2026.

I bought my Apple TV HD in 2015. Can’t believe it made it 10 years with full software support. I have two Apple TV 4K boxes that are the 2017 generation too.

I’ll still use them for now… but I really hope they release some new boxes soon. Would like to use my HomePod minis on my HDMI ARC so I don’t have to turn my old Harmon AVR. Don’t want to get the current ones if there’s an update ready to drop.

So the most substantive thing tvOS27 got was just dropping two models

The “bells and whistles” of some AI features are not going to convince me to ditch a perfectly fine 2017 model. It streams video perfectly. I’ll save my money and the environment until they pull the plug on it and brick it.

Fared better than the AW S9
Apple confirmed series 9 is supported on watchOS 27, it was an error to leave it out of the list!

The latest Apple TV 4K 3rd they sell currently is 4 years old. FOUR. (Or very close to that).

When is the new one coming out? I am NOT upgrading one of my ATVs to a one that is 4 years old.
It's almost like they take pleasure in leaving hardware neglected. ATV, APM, AVP, etc.
