The photo in this article is weird: I have the one on the left (the 3-in-1 cube charger, got it at Costco), and that photo is mirrored—the watch pop-out is on the right, not the left. If you zoom in you can see that the Anker logo is backwards.

I guess MR did it so the quasi-ad photo looks symmetric, but for a nominal news site that’s really poor form.

If anybody is curious, it’s a pretty good charger—does indeed hold a phone very solidly (strong magnets, horizontal or vertical) and charge quickly, plus a watch and pair of AirPods, and there is no glowing LED on the front to keep you awake. It’s also plenty heavy, which is bad for portability even if it does fold into a cube, but good for it not tipping over.

My main complaint is the watch pop-out thing only locks into the extended position very loosely, so it slides partway back in if you bump it even gently and ends up feeling kinda cheap as a result. A few times my watch has failed to charge because I nudged it just enough that the watch was pushing against the side of the cube and not seating properly.

Anker prices have been skyrocketing along with RAM/SSD prices these days. Magsafe charger stands weren't this expensive a few years ago, why are they all around $100 now??? Same goes to many other popular brands.
I was a huge Anker fan from when they started - when they did livestreams of towing cars with their cables - I received several free batteries from their giveaways (Ingress years). You could buy tons of their stuff for $20-$40 or less. If you happened to have a problem with their products, they'd go out of their way to ship you a replacement - no questions asked.

Then... they started getting really really expensive (~3-4 years ago?). 10,000 mAh batteries for almost $100 - really? Their newer batteries and chargers, while claiming to do 160W actually output less per port and charge slower than their 2 generation older chargers and batteries (which I have) - while costing significantly more.

Last year I bought a thin, on sale, very expensive 140W Anker charger. I plugged it in and pulled less than 100w and ... the charger filled my room with a burnt plastic smell. When I returned it to Amazon, the lady at Whole Foods accepting the return couldn't even stand the smell despite it having been unplugged for over a day.

I love my older Anker products like my Anker C1000 - I got it years ago for half the retail price back when a sale was actually a sale, not just "normal" pricing with an inflated pretend retail price. I still use it today to offload my office's power during peak rates - every day.

Their loss - I haven't really bought Anker products over the last few years and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon. And I'm the "tech guy" some of my family/friends go to for advice on these things.

Been pretty happy with Iniu batteries... The price is unbeatable - their batteries are serving me well so far.

I feel that those are useless, why pay $300 for a stand that you can build yourself ?

To second some of these comments, I too have had issues with Anchor products lately. I'm not sure if they've always been overrated, or they're just falling off like nearly everything else in this world.
