Apple's Chipmaking Chief Johny Srouji Responds to Report About Him Potentially Leaving

Going to go out on a limb and bet this response was part of an increased compensation package to get him to stay, in addition to damage control.

Another example of Mark Gurman being both the proverbial arsonist and fire brigade when it comes to Apple rumors.

Apple's chipmaking chief Johny Srouji ('https://www.apple.com/leadership/johny-srouji/') has reportedly indicated that he plans to continue working for the company for the foreseeable future.



"I love my team, and I love my job at Apple, and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon," said Srouji, in a memo obtained by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman ('https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-12-08/apple-chip-chief-tells-staff-he-s-not-leaving-anytime-soon').

Here is Srouji's full memo, as shared by Bloomberg:Last week, Gurman said that Srouji recently told Apple CEO Tim Cook that he was "seriously considering leaving in the near future ('https://www.macrumors.com/2025/12/07/srouji-could-be-next-to-go-as-exodus-continues/')." Srouji did not explicitly deny the report, but it appears that he has no plans to leave Apple for now.

Srouji informed colleagues that he would be interested in working for another company if he did leave Apple, rather than retiring, according to Gurman.

Srouji is Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies. He joined the company in 2008 to lead development of the iPhone 4's A4 chip, the first Apple-designed system-on-a-chip. He previously held senior positions at Intel and IBM.

Apple's chips have achieved many performance records, making Srouji one of the company's most important executives. For example, the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro models offers the world's fastest CPU in any smartphone, while Apple silicon chips in Macs continue to deliver industry-leading performance per watt.

Apple is facing turnover among its top ranks. Honestly, people like Mark Gurman are dangerous. Spreading lies, or at least fabrications across the board. Does he not realise the impact this would have on Johnny, his team questioning him? Executives scrutinisation towards him? Potential stock fluctuations? This is a beloved company with some of the most talented people trying they’re hardest to make great stuff off us.



Does he also not realise it stirs more false information in the rumour pots? (Oh wait, isn’t this the guy that profits off clicks and makes you pay to read his articles?). He knows exactly what he’s doing and it’s scummy.



Just because this guy got stuff right, doesn’t mean he’s RIGHT. He hardly ever is. He’s just a guy that has accomplished living in a shiny basement spreading false narratives. Shiny as it maybe, a basement will always be below the muck on his audiences shoes.
