I was thinking of doing burgundy 18PM from desert 16PM (both 256 - that the base prices were trim for even duo is neat). Tend to point towards the new colour when I did get new phones (gold 5S, pink SE1 as previous examples). Affirm doing 0% interest seems weird so vaguely interested in trying that, but got into a weird blinking loop doing iPhone mirroring autofilling the security code that was texted so got 30 failed login emails and to try again later 😛 dunno when later is, but sure 😛

The Duo is definitely compelling (and honestly I really, really like the animation when opening/closing it) but price point aside I just don't think I can go without Face ID at this point, even with unlock via watch as an option.

I know this is "more money than sense" talking but I might trade in my 17 Pro for an 18 Pro just for the black colour, which is really the one I wanted last year but didn't get. I'm also hopeful the C2 modem will help with some poor coverage spots around me, as apparently the C1X does handle those better.

Mine's in great shape honestly. No chips/scratches as far as I can tell, and I'm pretty obsessive about that kind of stuff. I am generally pretty careful with my devices though. I think as long as you're mindful about how you handle your stuff, it should be fine.

Yeah, the trade in values are surprisingly good. I don't think I would be as tempted if it wasn't basically cutting the price in half.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 is tempting for the same reason, although I just want the new sensor system to hopefully quit the random locking while on my wrist.

0% interest and higher trade-in values help. There isn't much of a physical upgrade, but the internals for the 18 Pros have been greatly improved. I am thinking that next year might bring a better OLED screen, higher peak brightness, and maybe an under-display front camera or a hole-punch design. The battery and processor upgrades for this year will easily last me at least two years until then! I am upgrading from the 16PM to the 18PM.

Even the 18 Pro Max got a considerable price hike, as rumoured. The 2TB is now +25% more at $3,699 vs. the 17 Pro Max 2TB at $2,949...

Thanks for creating the thread as you do every year. Would it be possible to ask you if you could add a poll to the thread with regard to if people are getting a Pro, Pro Max, Duo or not upgrading? Would be nice to see what the spread is looking like here in Canada.

That's a huge jump, you'll enjoy it. I don't even use the "Ultra" features but jumped up for the better battery life and it's great. What band did you go with? I can't say I'm really a fan of a lot of the colours this year.

I hated all the Apple watch straps and because I work in mining, I went with the Urban Armor Gear Metropolis black on black titanium strap.

Is anyone else encountering the issue of trying to trade in an iPhone 17 Pro that was replaced through AppleCare, and the system is saying the serial is not eligible for trade in?

It’s odd. I still have the box from the phone I sent back so I tested that serial number and it gives me a trade in value, but the replacement one they sent me doesn’t.

you don't deal with rogers, you just convert it to esim, its in your cellular settings. Takes 2 minutes

Yeah, my Series 5 finally **** the bed from a blast of water jet boating in the Niagara River so Ultra 4 for me. Should be a nice upgrade for us.
