Apple Planning 'HomeView Max' With 9-Inch, 360-Degree Screen

I don't look forward to the three minute ad for the 360: the same family argues at the table while the HomeView spins chaotically, trying to decide which person gets the attention.

Speaking of Gurman, what happened to that rumor of Apple apparently launching a home camera that was going to be “the first security camera that’s not a camera”? Wasn’t that supposed to be announced along with the HomeView?

Just fix the Home App first. Reliability in connection with Honepods sucks, feature set is limited and so are the automations. My Apple TV is connected to my router and my phone 2 meters away from said router. Home App is showing the our Honepods are plying something (they weren't) and when I tried to airplay our movie to my 2 Honepod Mini as rear speakers, the Home App was hanging at Connecting. Over the years I have seen so much crap in this app, that I truly believe it was written by 2 interns.

I am glad I moved 90% of my automations to Aqara, which is like going from an Aqabacus to a Quantum Computer. 7 inch, 9 inch, who cares if the foundation underneath is so laughably bad.

Mark Gurman just throws crap at the wall to see what sticks. He changes his story every other day and then claims victory when something happens to stick.

Looks like the ones they are selling now are a first generation made for the iPhone 16 failed AI era. Makes sense that the next generation is well into the development pipeline. If Apple is going to go hard in the Home Automation market they need a bit more than what they are showing in the first wave. They look great, but they don't seem to do anything an existing iPad can already do. Honestly if you take the Duo out of the mix Apples 2026 product releases have been pretty blah and pretty expensive.

It’s not really intended to replace iPad instead it supplements one. Homeview does have several functions that you cannot do on iPad. Also design wise, an iPad has a battery in it and it’s counterproductive to just leave plugged into charger.

Yeah, I’ve said this in every single article, but I do not understand the iPad comparisons at all.
This thing is a speaker, first and foremost, that happens to have a complimentary display on top.
But it’s not an iPad display, it’s a low resolution display, less pixels per inch than any iPad since 2012, a square display, permanently stuck on top of a 2 lb speaker.
It’s fundamentally a HomePod touch. Certainly not a replacement for an iPad.
If someone wants to purchase an iPad and a Bluetooth speaker and somehow use them as a rigged home controller, they certainly can do that, but it’s completely overkill and significantly more expensive, niche and difficult than just picking up one of these and plopping it down on your counter.
