Apple Adds AppleCare One Family Plan for Up to Six People

Apple today announced AppleCare One Family, a new option for U.S. customers that extends ‌AppleCare‌ coverage to every eligible device across an Apple Family Sharing group of up to six people for one fixed monthly price.

AppleCare One Family
‌AppleCare‌ One Family costs $49.99 per month and includes all of the same benefits as ‌AppleCare‌+, such as coverage for accidental damage like drops and spills, battery replacement service, and priority support from Apple Experts. It also includes theft and loss protection for eligible iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch models, and allows six total claims per year across the group.

Once a subscriber signs up, they can add devices from their iPhone, ‌iPad‌, or Mac, including "most devices less than four years old and in good working condition." Newly purchased devices are added automatically at no extra cost, and the price stays the same regardless of how many eligible products end up being covered.

To use the new plan, customers must set up Family Sharing in the Settings app on their iPhone, ‌iPad‌, or Mac and invite up to five other people to join. Any eligible devices those family members already own can then be covered under the same subscription, eliminating the need to buy and manage a separate ‌AppleCare‌ plan for each person.

‌AppleCare‌ One Family builds on AppleCare One, the multi-device subscription Apple introduced in the U.S. in July 2025 at $19.99 per month for up to three products. That plan has since expanded to Australia, France, Germany, and the UK, and today's announcement gives U.S. customers with larger households a way to consolidate coverage under a single subscription rather than juggling individual plans.

‌AppleCare‌ One Family will be available in the United States starting September 14. More details are available on Apple's AppleCare webpage.

Wow, Apple making it so easy to purchase an extremely high-margin extended warranty/insurance product. They're so generous in how they've made it so easy to sign up! We should be so grateful to be able to pay $600/yr so easily and never get anything in return unless something unfortunate and unlikely happens.

[puts on Apple shareholder hat] Please buy this everyone! You might drop your phone or iPad or something. You can't put a price on peace of mind.

It is cool that it supports what appears like an unlimited number of devices, but the $50/m ($600/y) price is extremely heavy. 2 years of this and you could have purchased an iPhone 18 Pro pretty much.

The article also incorrectly says the Family Plan is available now, but it doesn't launch until 9/14 in the US.

If it covers all the devices in our house? That's a killer price.

Does that mean unlimited devices; what is the device limit?

Edit: No limit on number of devices, but there is a limit of six total claims per year with AppleCare One Family.

Edit 2: Device limit only applies to Apple Vision Pro:

To be clear, the number of devices is unlimited (as long as they are four years old or newer). But the family can only submit a maximum of six claims per year.

Still--this is a very good deal for insurance for families beyond a certain size, particularly with expensive models of devices. I'm still mildly surprised that a base Apple Watch and a Vision Pro or Mac Studio in an Ultra configuration are both "counted" the same under these plans. Apple isn't stupid, so I assume they've done the math. With families, my guess is that there is more glass replacement on iPads and iPhones more than anything else.
You guys misread. It’s 6 claims for loss and theft total. Accidental damage is still unlimited. This is insane…

If everyone in the family of 6 has an iphone, apple watch, and ipad, thats 18 devices covered for $50 a momth. That’s $2.77 per device per month.

This might just be the best insurance plan to exist.

I have three kids 12 and under, plus myself and wife and our laptops, phones, AirPods, watches, Apple TVs in every room.

This is almost like a no brainer for a big family with rambunctious kids.
