Apple today shared a short video featuring an Apple Watch user named Amanda who says her device saved her life.
In 2024, Amanda began receiving alerts about an abnormal heart rate. Her watch alerted her about changes to her resting heart rate and her overnight vitals, prompting her to visit her doctor.
She ended up being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, an aggressive cancer. After treatment, she is in remission.
"I absolutely believe that if it wasn't for my Apple Watch, I wouldn't be talking to you," she said.
The Apple Watch regularly monitors heart rate and can send alerts when a high heart rate is detected during rest. It also notes low heart rates and irregular heart rhythms, plus the ECG app can detect atrial fibrillation.
As reported by MediaPost, businesses in the U.S. and Canada can buy Apple Maps ad slots starting today. An introductory offer provides advertisers with a 15% credit towards future ad spend, on up to $1,000 per month of spend over the first year.
The ads do not appear to be visible in Apple Maps just yet, but they should be rolling out soon, as Apple previously stated that the ads would go live ...

it simply notified her of the change in heart rate. As a person with leukemia (and not a doctor) there is little correlation between heart rate and blood cancer. Pretty low class to liken cancer detection to your watch, but that is where Apple is, apparently.
Low class? Lady wears an AW AW detects an anomaly which promts her to go to the dr. Doctor notices another anomaly & orders tests. Tests detect cancer.
While it obviously didn't detect the cancer specifically, if not for her AW there wouldn't have been any detection of cancer at all. The correlation is there whether you want to see it or not.
Every year it's the same thing, you could also go to the doctor once a year...
I am in the Dr office multiple times a year but it was my Apple Watch that alerted me to possible aFib and has helped in a treatment plan for an arrhythmia that has developed. You can “go to the doctor once a year” but there’s 364 other days to worry about as well.
