Apple is required to publish energy labels on its iPhone product pages in the EU, and they reveal the official mAh battery capacities for the devices.

First, here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 16 series:

  • iPhone 16: 3,561 mAh
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 4,674 mAh
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 3,582 mAh
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,685 mAh

Here are the battery capacities for the new iPhones, according to Apple:

  • iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh (+3.7% over iPhone 16)
  • iPhone Air: 3,149 mAh
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 4,252 mAh (+18.7% over iPhone 16 Pro)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5,088 mAh (+8.6% over iPhone 16 Pro Max)

These capacities match those uncovered in a regulatory database before Apple's event. Even though the latest iPhones still have a SIM card tray in the EU, it seems that these battery capacities are likely for eSIM-only models.

eSIM-only models of the new iPhones are equipped with a larger battery that fills the space formerly occupied by the physical SIM card tray. Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers the longest battery life of any iPhone model ever, with up to 39 hours of video playback per full charge, up from 33 hours on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are eSIM-only in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to Apple.

As for RAM, Apple's developer tool Xcode 26 confirms the base iPhone 17 has 8GB, while the Pro models and the iPhone Air are equipped with 12GB.

Here is how much RAM is in each new iPhone model:

  • iPhone 17: 8GB
  • iPhone Air: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB

Compared to the iPhone 16 series, RAM has increased in all models except for the base model.

Here is how much RAM is in the iPhone 16 models:

  • iPhone 16: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 8GB

All of the new iPhone models will be available to pre-order starting Friday, September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in the U.S. and many other countries and regions. The devices are set to launch one week later, on Friday, September 19.
