I need to post my one year review of my M1 MacBook Pro. Still an excellent purchase a year later. In fact, I was planning on pulling the trigger on a Surface Laptop Studio, but decided it’s just not needed. Besides, I got a work assigned Dell for that. The M1’s battery life remains impressive, hasn’t gotten slow, and crushes anything I throw at it. I also feel like Chrome has finally met it’s match. 😄 As for what’s next, I am sure it will be a power house. But not looking at another Mac until probably the second generation larger screen iMac.

256 GB… what a joke. All of my projects range in the 14-20 GB storage, I would need many external drives just to work on a regular week.

And no, the cloud is not an option, just a back up for me. Try going out to the field and waiting for files to download at 2G or 3G speeds, or no internet at all.
Then buy the 512 GB model Air. It is also on sale.

Or buy a Pro 13 and add storage.

Or wait until the 14 and 16" models come out and buy one of those.

Lots of options other than the base configuration Air listed in the article.

As someone who moved from the 16" MBP with 32 GB and 1 TB drive to the base Air, I can say I have no regrets and enjoy using the Air more than I did the 16" MBP.

256 GB… what a joke. All of my projects range in the 14-20 GB storage, I would need many external drives just to work on a regular week.
You sound like a power user who needs the extra storage. Most folk probably aren't experts like you so just need a regular amount of storage.

I'm guessing that MacRumors isn't a Costco member. This is the exact same deal that Costco had just a month ago, that's how I snagged the base model for a trip. Add in the executive discount, and I actually saved more....

Not everyone needs a lot of storage space. Personally, I'd rather have more than 8GB of RAM, but paying $350 more to do a BTO for a MBA with 16GB seems like such a rip off.
