With the competition you get an OLED screen in 200 dollar devices.
Have you actually put an OLED screen next to the XR? A lot of people can't tell the difference.

lol - all of us who said they went high to drop it a year later and everyone would eat out of their palms are claiming our winnings now.

Still too high a price and it’s staggering how easy Apple can game their punters with their normalisation techniques.
The iPhone 4 was $650 in 2010. That's about $766 in 2019 dollars (and $748 in 2018 dollars). The iPhone 6 was $650 in 2014 ($706 in 2019 dollars). The Xr was priced in line with past iPhones - the same as some, a little higher than others. This puts the 11 as the same as some and a little lower than others. Just because it's a tech product doesn't mean it should always cost lower in subsequent years.

Should be 599 for what it is.
Great processor, great OS, good camera, unacceptable display (in my opinion), mediocre design...

With the competition you get an OLED screen in 200 dollar devices. I am definitely ok with paying a premium for iOS but an LCD for 700 dollars in 2019/2020 - I really don’t know...
Unacceptable display? Your opinion is wrong, it’s an amazing display.

Better than the XR, especially the camera—one of the few features that drives sales—and Apple dropped the price. The XR remains available at $599 for those who are on a tighter budget. And since the competition doesn’t run iOS, it isn’t an option for me and many others.

Android platform will always offer cheaper phones, just like you can get a Windows laptop for $300. If price is the overriding factor, iPhone probably isn’t the best option for you.

Interesting how Apple has been reducing pricing lately. iPhone 11 is $50 less than the XR, Series 3 is now $199 and Apple TV+ is $5/month with 1 year free.
