Those headphones are not very good. I lost a pair and replaced with $25 wireless ones from amazon that have better sound and bass and have lasted 1.5 years with no problems.

I'm interested in the BeatsX, but only if they don't sound like beats, aka, flubby muffled garbage.
Beats changed how their headphones/earbuds sound, beginning when Apple bought them. Still bass heavy, but not at the expense of the rest of the audible spectrum like they used to be. IMO.

I think if you’re an iPhone the user you’d have more of a reason to buy these regardless of the sound to which they at least sound “good.

They charge using a lightning connector and the the W1 chip which allows easy connection swapping between Apple devices.

Is there a visual toggle in the control center specifically for audio source switching?

Only place I see a way to do it is in the music module.
The music module it is. If you are on iOS 11 simply tap on the radio wave like icon on the top right of the music module and then select your beats. If it's blue and pulsing then its connected already. Alternatively, you an also 3D Touch on the music module and tap the airplay icon. On iOS 10 I believe you can tap on the "now playing on" on the bottom of the music pane.

I went with the beats x mostly because of the W1 chip and quick charge through a lightning cable but you've also brought up another feature that directed me towards the beats X which is physical controls.

I was going to also mention that for my personal taste I just really don't like how the airpods look when in use but if I'm being honest the beats x don't look much better lol.
Yeah my wife told me this morning I look like an idiot with the AirPods. :D. I’m still considering it a trial period, I have until Jan to return because of the holidays. I wouldn’t discourage the BeatsX either, the W1 seems great for multiple devices.
