iPod Touch Calendar to Get Add/Edit Functionality?

MacRumors forum user DavidJearly emailed Steve Jobs, asking about several features that are lacking on the iPod Touch. This included issues with full image syncing, notes, disk mode, lack of calendar input and lack of games.

Steve Jobs reportedly replied and addressed the last two issues:

David,

Nothing can be done about the games. The new iPod touch is a completely different animal inside than the old iPods and the games just don't translate. The inability to edit and add calendar events is a bug that will be fixed in a future software update.

Best,
Steve

The lack of calendar input received a lot of attention when the iPod touch began shipping, as this feature was originally described on Apple's iPod touch feature list, but subsequently removed. According to the email response, this oversight is described as a "bug" and should be addressed in a future software update.

Though rare, Steve Jobs has been known to occasionally respond to emails addressed to him.

I'm not sure I'm buying this.... Anyone can do this. I don't see a point to wasting your time to make it look like steve jobs emailed back, maybe give people false hope about future updates? Idk... Whatever, if this is real, its awesome he responded with the 10902930293+ emails he must get.

Do you have a special braile version of the internet or something which is resulting in you misinterpreting my words?

Look at the raw email data. Look at the server the email was sent from. Now, just as everyone else has managed to understand by this point, this cannot be faked. The email came from Apple's internal servers. Thats something, not surprisngly, that little old me in my lab in the North of Scotland doesn't have access to.

Jesus. I didn't say Steve Jobs himself emailed back either. The reply to my email certainly came from his department inside Apple though. I wouldn't call that 'false hope'.

David

P.S. Why would you waste your time trying to convince people that an obviously genuine email is spurious? Thats the real question.

Nice dude.

Just an FYI, that was actually Steve responding to your e-mail. He has an executive team who reads his e-mail, but they will respond either with their own name or they will call you if you provide a number. On some occasions he does actually read and respond via e-mail. Congrats.

Thanks for the nice comments. I honestly couldn't care less whether it was Steve or not, but some of the comments on engadget are just unreal. Some people should try to use some common sense.

The only reason I posted this was because I thought it was marginally interesting to other Mac/iPod Touch users.

Thanks, David
