My current iPhone is enough

I have a 17 Pro but came from an 11 Pro. Aside from the 64GB storage being full for the last few years, everything else on the 11 Pro was perfect for my needs.

I went for the 17 Pro because I plan to keep it for maybe about 5ish years too but I probably would have been very satisfied with a 17 or maybe even the Air. The camera and speakers kept me away from the Air. I don't take a lot of pictures but when I do, they're usually for work stuff and I want them to look good. Maybe the Air would've been enough.

I had a 13 Mini the was sacrificed due to that horrendous iOS 26 update. I sold it to my brother.

I don't regret it that much but I also have a 12 Mini (it was my brother's previous phone) that I like to test sometimes and man, that size is just perfect. I currently have a Pixel 9a that is so so bigger. The Pixel 9a outperform the 12 Mini but comfort that the Mini brings can easily fight with the performance of the Pixel 9a

Mine is still on iOS 18. I read all the reviews of 26 and nope out. I’ll see how people like— or don’t like— 27 on their 13 Minis before deciding whether or not to install it.

17 pro max. i would kinda upgrade, i dont need it, none of my iphones were "not enough", i switched from 13 pro max which was my longest awaiting, and i still didnt feel a difference
... so why wait, time will never go back
I even placed it on some marketplace pages, i would lose "only" like 33% value so new one would cost me 67%

But i still feel like thats stupid
 
Another iPhone 13 mini user here, mainly using it for text messaging (iMessages and WhatsApp), checking emails, sometimes catching up on news when I'm on the go, and of course the occasional phone call. I don't use social media, nor do I watch videos or play games on it. It does the job just fine, and with no successor that I can comfortably use with just one hand, there's no incentive for me to upgrade.

I am glad to see some of these messages, as I thought "what is wrong with me that everyone wants a new phone every year and I don't"

Have a 15-Pro and not sure I am missing out on anything.
Calls. Check.
Surf. Check.
Runs my watch. Check.
View a you tube video. Check.

The benefit of an older phone is that the first scratch, ding, drop to the concrete is already over with.

About 6 months ago dropped my 15 Pro off a Jet-Ski in Clearwater Beach. Was able to retrieve it from the bottom and still works perfectly. It had pretty good reception underwater apparently, when I found it, it was actively receiving a text message. 😊

My 15 Pro Max, with 94% battery health, is just fine. Upgrading would be just for fun rather than necessity. If I was still traveling for a living the Duo would be amazing, but that's in the past. I had thought of going to the 18Pro Max, but the hype about the 20 made me reconsider. So probably no change for me this year.

No reason to up upgrade any of them.


Some of them I look at as a downgrade (Pixel and Samsung) while the iPhone holds the line with a tiny upgrade with variable aperture lens but with the cost increase of 800 bucks over last year's similar model.


So no upgrades anywhere!
 
14 pro, it's still enough for me. It world perfectly. Battery is at 86% health and I'll probably replace the battery when the time comes, unless I break the phone or something.
Basically the only things about new phones that interest me are the chips, N1 and now C2, which seem like the only actual upgrades. I am also in no way, shape or form interested in anything AI.

I upgraded from a 15pm to a 17pm. I only did this because I switched carriers and they offered a deal that I couldn't pass up.

It really wasn't much of an upgrade. If it weren't for the carrier switch, I'd still happily be using my 15pm with no plan to upgrade. If rumors are true, next year's phone might be a decent step forward.

Flying economy will also get me there, but better seats mean I will arrive more refreshed to enjoy my trip instead of taking a day or two to recover from the flight.

I'm not trying to bash your Camry example as we still keep my wife's 2006 Lexus ES330 (her first car she bought on her own), which is underpinned by Camry parts. My commute is short so I take the old ES to work and leave the "nicer" car for my wife. There's certainly truth to your statement, but there's also a lot of nuance to your comparison.

I read on here that it's just not possible to have a thin phone and a proper 8x zoom on the air. There just isn't the space. Even the duo doesn't have zoom just the wide angle which, for me is totally useless for what I use my phone for.
 
If the following holds true, my 15 should be good for another 4.5 years. The battery is still at 100%.
