The ‌Apple TV‌ 4K video highlights Dolby Vision and HDR10+ playback, hands-free ‌Siri‌ control using built-in microphones, and the ability to play a sound to locate the updated ‌Siri‌ Remote. That's cringe. Only people on TV live that way. Plus, everyone in real life has their own iPhone. No one is going to share a wired speaker with a screen sitting on a kitchen island with a conveniently hidden power cord and power outlet.

So in the "Welcome, HomeView" video, the only thing we see the device do (which has its power cord going through a tiny hole in the kitchen island, clearly impossible since the plugs would never fit) is pull up a recipe and have Siri answer some simple questions that could have been accomplished in the same amount of time by an iPhone or iPad. I just don't see the point.

This is one of those ideas that seems really smart at first: a screen that can manage your home life and more. But the moment you actually see it being used you realize that it’s unnecessary. VisionPro is the same thing. It seems like such a great idea, until it’s made.

Cute video, I'd probably watch this sitcom if it were one.

But it didn't make me want a device. I want less screens around.

I kinda hate that family ad. It makes the HomeView look like another device that interrupts human interaction, but the ad is really trying to sell you otherwise.
