Walt Disney World to Offer iOS 27's Upgraded Apple Wallet Key Feature

Starting with iOS 27, the Apple Wallet app will offer enhanced digital keys at participating hotels and resorts. Apple said you can view more details about your trips, receive updates about booked activities, access services available during your stay, and more.

Disney MagicMobile Feature
Apple did not share a list of hotels and resorts that will be offering these upgraded keys, but TechRadar reported that Walt Disney World Resort plans to add support for the improved feature by the time iOS 27 is released in September.

You can already add your Disney World tickets to Apple Wallet through the My Disney Experience app, and then simply tap your iPhone or Apple Watch on the scanners located at the entrances to parks and Lightning Lane queues for rides. On iOS 27, though, the report said this MagicMobile experience will get better in several ways.

According to the report, tapping on your MagicMobile pass in the Wallet app will allow you to view more information, including your park reservations for the current day and future days, your Lightning Lane ride selections, special ticketed events (such as After Hours), dining reservations, and more. The enhanced passes are dynamic, meaning that the information shown is updated automatically throughout the day.

You will still need to use the My Disney Experience app to actually make your Lightning Lane selections, dining reservations, and so forth.

These enhancements will make Apple Wallet more useful for Disney World visits — especially if someone else in your group is managing your day.

Resorts World Las Vegas also plans to offer enhanced Apple Wallet keys on iOS 27, per the report. The property has three hotels operated by Hilton.

Having my annual pass linked on my Apple watch has been extremely convenient. Adding the ability to open my room door with it would just be icing on the cake.

This does nothing of the sort. Why do you hate Disney?
It’s no different to a supermarket loyalty card. Between the app, your park ticket, hotel key, ride reservations, and everything else being linked together, Disney can build up a pretty good picture of where you go, what rides you use, where you eat, and what you spend your money on. To be fair, they’re not alone in doing that. Most big attractions collect similar data these days. Disney just happens to do it on a massive scale.

Why do I dislike Disney? Plenty of reasons, but the biggest one is the cost.

I’ve been to Disneyland Paris, and while it was ok, I came away feeling like I was being treated less like a guest and more like a walking credit card. Every step of the journey seems designed to encourage you to spend more money. The tickets are expensive, the hotels are expensive, the food is expensive, the merchandise is expensive, and then there are all the little extras that quickly add up. A three night stay costs you thousands. Is it worth going? I wouldn't go again.

What really made me laugh was paying around €15 for a soft drink. Excuse the pun, but that’s taking the Mickey. (Excuse the pun)

Maybe I’m getting old, but I remember Disney being sold as a magical family experience. The only magic is how quickly it makes my money disappear, and to maximise your experience you are forced to pay more.

Thankfully, I have plenty of savings, but the number of people I have spoken to who have financed their short holiday is sickening. Corporate greed at its finest. And don't get me started on their politics.

Does this update actually make it possible to just tap your phone on your resort room door without having to open up the app? I'd also love it if they would make it possible to unlock your room door with an Apple Watch.
Just get a magic band. They make things so much more convenient.

I still can’t believe we don’t support Magic Mobile out here at Disneyland. It would be so nice to have my magic key on my watch.
