Lamine Yamal Teases Upcoming Beats Over-Ear Headphones

Ahead of the upcoming World Cup, football superstar Lamine Yamal has arrived at training camp for the Spanish national team sporting what seems to be the unreleased over-ear headphones that appeared in a U.S. Federal Communications Commission database last week. As suspected, the new headphones are a Beats product rather than an Apple product.

In a post on his Instagram account, Yamal shared several photos and a video clip showing him arriving to training camp with the new headphones in a pink color.

We don't know any other details on the upcoming headphones, and it's unclear whether they are a next-generation version of the Beats Studio Pro or if they will carry a new name. They feature a distinctly different design than the Beats Studio Pro, with flatter exteriors on the ear cups and a completely different headband design that appears to include tubular telescoping arms rather than the wider and flatter arms of the Beats Studio Pro.

A release date for the new Beats headphones is currently unknown, but it shouldn't be too far in the future given that they've already received FCC approval and are being seeded to key influencers like Yamal.

I gather the sound isn't as important as how they look and how the owner looks when wearing them.

What a strange carrying case for these new Beats headphones. Shouldn't the headphones go inside the case? 🤔

Everyone comments on how they look; no one seems to care how they sound.

The most commonly used headphone by audio professionals is still the Sony MDR-7506. They sell for $99 at Best Buy. They buy them for their sounbd and don't give a $%&# how they look. This is what most pros use in the video and entertainment industry.

Music recording engineers tend to like Beyerdynamic DT 990 or 770. Both are under $200. Bought for the same reason.

I was not the first to say this. I hear people in the industry complain that no one seems to care about quality because they all use tiny portable devices that aren't as good as even a 1960s vintage stereo. We trade convenience and style for quality.

Consumers, they will pay triple if it comes in pink. The manufacturers laugh all the way to the bank.

I had a pair of DT 880s and now have DT 1990s, I love them. But I also have AirPods Max and Pro, love them too. Then using Steelseries Arctis for the PC often.

Audiophiles often sound (pun intended) like neckbeards. There are plenty of reasons to pick one headphone over another.

You know how you can tell someone owns a pair of Beats By Dre headphones ?
They wear them around their neck and play their music through their phone speaker. In public.
