Atlanta's MARTA Breeze Card Now Available in Apple Wallet

Starting today, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)'s Breeze Card can be added to the Apple Wallet app, allowing commuters in the Atlanta, Georgia area to tap an iPhone or Apple Watch to pay their fare at train stations and on buses.

Atlantas MARTA Breeze Card Now Available in Apple Wallet Feature
To add the Breeze Card to Apple Wallet, open the app and tap on the plus sign in the top-right corner. Next, tap on Transit Card and scroll down and select the Breeze Card. Then, follow the on-screen steps to complete the setup process.

Funds can be added to the Breeze Card directly in Apple Wallet, with both pay-per-ride and discounted passes for multiple rides available.

Express Mode allows commuters to simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment reader to pay for their ride, without needing to unlock or wake the device. This mode even works for up to five hours after an iPhone runs out of battery. Express Transit can be enabled per card in the Settings app under Wallet & Apple Pay.

Breeze Card has been available in the Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet apps since earlier this month, but Apple Wallet support was just added now.

I don’t understand how this is more convenient than just using the card.
Uh... Less cards to carry? Have you even used the Apple Wallet app?

You may be picturing a huge mass transit system in Atlanta. It is not. A subway that basically is only good for going to the airport. Buses that mostly travel main roads with complex time-consuming connections. When we moved from Atlanta to Philly and locals would complain about their robust Septa system with multiple kinds of trains, many buses, and trams, I would roll my eyes hard at them.

I don’t understand how this is more convenient than just using the card.
Imagine you are visiting Atlanta for a day or a week.
Instead of having to figure out where in the station you buy a card and how you buy it (and perhaps you're not even comfortable with English) you go to your phone, add the card in Wallet, add some dollars from Apple Pay, and you're done.

I've done this when visiting cities and it really is easier than alternatives.

I never had the card, since I never used MARTA, but it was trivial for me to add it to my phone just now. That and with Digital ID, GA Drivers License, seems that Georgia is doing quite well in the whole Apple Wallet scene. Now I can use MARTA without even leaving my couch to get a card to begin with.

You don’t even need to fool with a Breeze card now that you can just tap a credit/debit card.
You can’t load passes onto a credit card. MARTA does not do fare capping, so if you don’t load a pass, you are paying per ride.
