Apple Begins Selling Refurbished iPad 10 From $299, But Amazon Has an Even Better Deal

Apple today began selling certified refurbished iPad 10 models through its online store in the U.S. for the first time since the device was released in October 2022.

Apple lowered the iPad 10's starting price to $349 in the U.S. in May, and the refurbished models are discounted by an additional 15%, bringing the starting price down to $299. 256GB models are also available for $419, down from $499 brand new.

The refurbished iPad 10 models are not yet available in any other countries that we checked.

Apple says its refurbished iPads include a new battery and outer shell, a new white box, and all manuals and accessories, including a USB-C charging cable and power adapter. Apple says it puts refurbished devices through a "thorough cleaning process and inspection," and it performs full functionality testing to ensure there are no defective units.

All refurbished iPads are covered by Apple's one-year limited warranty and 14-day return policy, and eligible for AppleCare+ coverage.

Be aware that Amazon not only has a better deal on the iPad 10 right now, but they are brand new models instead of refurbished. After applying an on-page coupon, you can currently get the iPad 10 for as low as $249.99 on Amazon in the U.S., which is a great value and an all-time low price for the tablet as far as we have seen.

Apple really needs to start lowering the prices on their refurbs. The refurb store used to be a great way to save money. But that all changed when they started allowing stores to discount their products.

Much rather buy from Apple than Amazon any day of the week.

For a whole host of reasons…

As to the 10 having a non-laminated screen, we have iPad Airs as well as an iPad 9 and, frankly, while I was originally concerned about the iPad 9 being non-laminated, it's not been an issue at all. Screen is wonderfully bright and crisp, equally responsive, and any supposed off-putting tapping sound has proven immaterial.

I go between the Airs and the 9 many times a day and even enjoy the 9 more as the screen is a bit bigger, brighter, and it has better battery life. (Air is older.)

YMMV, of course.

OK, why would you buy a REFURBISHED iPad 10 from Apple for $50 more than a brand-new one from Amazon? If I throw in 5% cashback with my Amazon Prime Visa, and it's an even better deal.

I'm just trying to understand your line of reasoning.

I agree...now the refurb store is not even worth it if you do some simple googling for prices. For example, the Mac Mini M2 was there for $419 the other day...but you can get the brand-spanking new M4 for $499 at either the Apple Education store or many online retailers! Moreover, before the M4 was released you could easily find the M2 brand new for $479. $60 savings for a USED last-model machine?...no thanks. When I saw them for $419 the other day (after M4 was released) I really expected to see them for like $359.

Though Amazon's new devices are cheaper than Apple's refurbished ones, I feel that it would be be better to buy refurbished ones from Apple as they have proved to be of good quality and are long lasting. But personally I would rather go for new devices from Apple rather than Amazon, even if I have to pay the extra amount.

"...But Amazon Has an Even Better Deal"

That's the case for most of the things in the Apple iStore... You only buy through Apple to get promotional financing on the Apple iCard.
