Apple Prevents Downgrading to iOS 17.6.1 Following iOS 18 Release

Apple today stopped signing iOS 17.6.1 and iPadOS 17.6.1 for all devices except the latest-generation iPad Pro models with the M4 chip.

iOS 17
Apple routinely stops signing older iOS releases over time in order to prevent users from downgrading to an outdated software version. iOS 17.6.1 no longer being signed comes one week after Apple released iOS 18 to the public.

iPadOS 17.6.1 is likely still signed for iPad Pro models with the M4 chip only because iPadOS 18 has been temporary pulled for those devices.

If you still want to downgrade your iPhone to iOS 17, time is running out, with only iOS 17.7 remaining signed for the iPhone at this time.

I think you are wrong. If you have an iPhone that will run iOS 17 but not iOS 18 you will have the option to update to iOS 17. iPhones can always be updated to the latest iOS version their device supports. Now if your iPhone supports iOs 18 but you chose not to stay on iOS 16 then yes, your only option will be to move to iOS 18
There ist not such a Phone. 8 (Plus) and X only support iOS 16. XS (Max) and XR support iOS 18.

iOS 17.7 was still a major update for my iPhone 14 Pro.
After updating, my computer running macOS Sonoma required a download from Apple servers to be able to access the device again just like my computers running high sierra, unbelievable.

Since there’s no IPSW for 17.7, what’s the easiest/best way to downgrade from iOS 18?
