As an iPhone user the AirPods Max were worth the original $550. They still work great today and the sound quality is phenomenal. It has a rich and warm soundscape while retaining an accurate feel. After experiencing headphones with automatic pairing, device switching, and ear detection, it’s impossible to go back to my old BoseQC2 headphones.

I get so tempted when they hit $450. I really want to wait till they switch to USB-C, but every time I try these in the Apple Store I love them.

Question for you: how do they handle ear wax? I would think much better than my AirPods 2 (which are obvi in my ear), but I've seen some reviews online from people complaining about how dirty their APM get. I don't have wax dripping out of my ears, so I just don't understand those complaints.
Sorry for the late reply but earwax is never an issue with the APM. Definitely it gets on the AP and APP but not so with APM as there is a good amount of physical separation. I’ve never seen wax on any part of the APM. If it were to happen, you can wash the mesh earcup and it’ll be back to normal.

The only real downside is the lack of waterproofing, although anecdotally I’ve walked with them for a few minutes in light rain.
