Apple Releases HomePod 16.3.2 Software With Fix for Siri Request Failures

Alongside iOS 16.3.2, Apple today released new 16.3.2 software that's available for the HomePod, second-generation ‌HomePod‌, and HomePod mini.

HomePod 2 White and Midnight Feature Blue Orange

According to Apple's release notes, ‌HomePod‌ software version 16.3.2 addresses an ongoing problem with HomeKit-related Siri requests, which could fail.

This update addresses an issue where asking Siri for smart home requests may fail, and also includes general performance and stability improvements.

There have been multiple complaints about ‌Siri‌ failing to correctly respond to a HomeKit-related requests the first time a request is received, with a timeout occurring. The update should fix that problem for those who have been impacted.

Very much looking forward to whatever new problem this introduces to HomeKit.

Apple seriously needs to consider giving us an actual updating status bar. This circle ⭕️ thing is not helpful and it doesn’t show how much progress has been made.

Ok so this was a known issue then? I thought I was losing my marbles, every single HomePod Siri request for HomeKit items was failing (while working perfectly fine everywhere else).

Holy crap. They actually fixed it!. Siri is incredibly fast on my pods now (both OG and Minis). Not only that, but the actual "latency" when you ask something and Siri answers back is almost non existent now, no delay.

Homekit is working correctly again (so far, I updated last night and been testing them all morning).

I cannot believe it!. This has been borked since at least audioOS 14.

A DRAMATIC difference.

As for sound, is great. The default sound signature is still a tad "beats like" to my ears, but thankfully the "reduce bass" toggle bring them back closer to, say, the Airpods Max, which is fantastic in my book.

You can also ask Siri: "Hey Siri, turn off the bass"

Update ASAP, people.

Just installed the update. My stereo pair started playing together immediately for the first time in a long time. One HomePod has been kicking in on a delayed basis since a few updates ago. Hopefully this is fixed permanently.
