Apple recently updated its online store with a new ordering process for Macs, including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. I would like to do this, but I have concerns with the trade in program. I traded in a perfectly good conditioned iPad several months ago when I bought a new iPad through the Apple app. Several weeks later, apples “partner” came back and said that instead of giving me 300 or so dollars for my tablet (what was quoted when I made the purchase/trade in online) they were giving me 40. The rationale was complete bogus. The only recourse I had was to accept it at the reduced amount - and the remainder would be charged to my installment plan or they’d send me back the iPad and the full balance (including the 40$) would be billed to my monthly installment for the new iPad which I had bought / traded it in for. Bait and switch much? Is there a way to preorder, w a trade in, and avoid this? Ie bring the phone to be traded to the store and still have an order placed online? I can’t get to apples store at 9am on a Friday. I work.

so when you're done - there's no add to bag/cart...so what do you do?
You come back Friday and you’ll be able to add it to your cart for checkout.

I wasn’t planning on doing the carrier trade in and financing but they’re giving $1000 for an 11 pro max whereas I’d get less than half that by trading in anywhere else. Only problem is… you can’t do the pre-pre-order if you’re carrier financing.
I’m not sure it’s worth the risk of not being able to get an order in once the page goes live in the morning and the floodgates open.
I have always personally found to have an easier time using the Apple Store app as opposed to Apple’s site.
