PSA: App Store Bug Hiding App Update Buttons for Some Users

If you've logged into the App Store this morning and have noticed that there's no update button next to apps that you want to update, you're not alone.

There appears to be an ‌App Store‌ bug that is preventing the "Update" button that's normally displayed alongside apps from being visible, preventing apps from being updated one by one.

The update button bug seems to come and go, and not all users may be seeing it. Those that are will not see the individual update buttons when viewing app updates under their profiles in the ‌App Store‌.

If you want to update your apps, the "Update All" button remains available and functional, and you can also tap over to any app's ‌App Store‌ description page to install an update.

I don’t think I’ve ever used the individual update link anyway. I’m sure some do, and have a reason to, but I always just tap “Update All” every time.

It's back to normal.
Not for me, one of the apps that I updated using the "update all" option still doesn't have the "open" button

Folks, no need to worry, for the Apple Senior Advisor I spoke to assured me this is not an issue. The Senior Advisor officially confirmed to me that they talk to millions of customers a minute and if this was an issue, they would know about it before any customers noticed it. To troubleshoot this issue, the current instructions from Apple are to Reset All App Store settings. If you don’t see that option on your device, you’ll need to perform an AppStoreOS Restore. To do that, you’ll connect your phone to your computer and initiate the AppStoreOS recovery process that will appear in Finder. Note, this is NOT an iOS restore - this is only a restore of the AppStoreOS and no information will be removed from your phone. If the AppStoreOS recovery does not appear in Finder, Apple’s Official Position on the Matter is to keep your devices up to date with the latest version of AppStoreOS. No further troubleshooting will be provided.

You had one job.....

This also speaks to the point of rolling out a new OS every year that assures 4-5 major revisions in the betweentimes. All of which are huge write lumps that bit by bit kill sectors of the devices HDD.
