For stores that are closing this week, Apple is allowing customers to pick up existing online orders and repaired devices through Friday, July 3. There is no word on when stores will reopen.

This is the fifth wave of store reclosures, which started two weeks ago in states that include Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

When Apple first began reopening stores in the United States in May, the company warned that it could end up closing some locations again depending on local conditions. "These are not decisions we rush into - and a store opening in no way means that we won't take the preventative step of closing it again should local conditions warrant," said Apple's retail store chief Deirdre O'Brien.

Apple's decisions to close or reopen stores are based on data evaluation, such as local cases, near and long-term trends, and guidance from national and local health officials. In a statement to CNBC Apple said that it is closing stores out of an abundance of caution.

Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas. We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.

In store locations that have reopened, Apple has implemented safety measures that include mandatory masks, social distancing, frequent cleaning, temperature checks, and more. In some locations, stores are open only for repairs and curb-side pickup, while others are open but with a limited number of people allowed in at one time.

The problem is that people are making mask-wearing a political thing.

Wearing a mask is like wearing a condom in a risky situation, or wearing a seatbelt while driving. It's for your own safety.

If we all agreed on that, we'd be on our way to recovery long time ago.

It's almost like the country is doing the exact opposite of what science tells them.

* Warning in January - "No, it's just the flu."
* Wear masks - "No, it doesn't work. And it's my right to spread disease."
* Create testing kits - "No, we'll develop our own crappy ones."
* Develop contact tracing - "No, because privacy reasons."
* Banned from EU / Apple Stores close - "Nobody saw this coming!"
* Vaccine - "We won't use Chinese ones, even though they have 6 in Phase 3 trials. And vaccines cause autism."

This is what happens when things are reopened too soon. I can understand why they are keen to reopen, but businesses and shops are too keen and quick to reopen, and this is what happens. The virus is far from gone unfortunately!

Beggars belief that people argue and complain or even make it political about wearing a face mask, total selfishness.

This is why we can't have nice things. Some think wearing a mask somehow infringes on "their rights". I wonder how they'll feel when a loved one is on a vent and never leaves the hospital due to their selfish decision.

Yet deaths associated with it have been declining ever since the peak in April. There is still very little evidence that suggests that asymptomatic people are able to transmit the virus. The virus has a death rate of just 0.05%.

With the broadcasting of all of these COVID related numbers on all sorts of websites and TV channels, of course it looks terrifying, however I think the general public would feel a lot more at ease if they also saw all other sorts of numbers besides the COVID numbers. Simply due to the fact that COVID is the only disease which has had its numbers published and broadcasted in such a widespread and continual manner.
Try again, US currently has 127,681 deaths out of 2,658,324 reported cases. That works out to a death rate of 4.8%. Admittedly due to the high prevalence of asymptotic cases (most of whom probably aren’t tested), the actual cases is probably much higher, but even if the actual case count is 10x reported, that still brings the death rate down to 0.5%.
