Apple recently updated its online store with a new ordering process for Macs, including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. their return policy sucks.

https://expercom.com/pages/policies

you pay shipping, you pay 15% restocking, and open boxes are flat out not returnable.

good luck fighting for an exchange if you lose the panel lottery or have what you deem to be a defect that they wont agree is a defect.

ill pay the tax at apples education store instead for peace of mind.

I got mine Tuesday. I ordered a 2.4GHz, 32GB, 8GB VRAM model and its perfect and came shipped exactly the same as ones I've gotten from Apple. Couldn't be happier.

As a data point, in case others ordered and are waiting...

Ordered from Expercom on the day of announcement (2.3Ghz/32GB/5500M 8GB/1 TB) and just received an "order processed" email on 11.20 (they had not previously charged my card). The email simply indicated that the order will be shipped shortly.

Crossing my fingers because this was my first time ordering other than from Apple directly. It was hard to resist the almost $450 discount (no sales tax for FL helped) in my instance though.

Given what they are quoting for lead time, I really wasn't expecting to receive it this week or next, but who knows. I assume the card charge is some sort of positive sign.

Looks like a similar policy to B&H.

I've read many instances reported on this very forum where devices purchased direct from Apple were not automatically replaced with brand new units after the return window. Of course with the holiday return period approaching (today?) purchasing from Apple should give you a return window through the first week of January.
I’ve heard great things about B&H.

Wow I’m surprised that Apple wouldn’t exchange something with a brand new unit even if past the return window. I guess it depends on how far past it is, what the issue is and who you talk to Lol.

For the most part they’re very good with exchanges. And yeah this holiday return period is great. Usually it starts November 1st or Black Friday.
