For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Nomad to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win one of the company's Battery Cables, which combines a Lightning cable with a battery pack.

Priced at $49.99, the Battery Cable combines a high-quality Lightning cable made from braided 500D nylon woven in a ballistic weave pattern with a 2,800mAh battery that's built right into the cord.

nomadbatterypack1
The built-in battery is meant to allow the cable to work even when you don't have a power source, and it's convenient because you don't need to have a separate battery pack -- it's all one device that you can bring with you.

nomadbatterypack2
At 2,800mAh, the Battery Cable won't quite charge your iPhone to full if it's an XS, XS Max, or XR, but it will give you some extra juice in a pinch.

nomadbatterypack3
A light on the Battery Cable will let you know what the charge level is, and for traveling, there's an integrated silicone cable tie to keep it from getting tangled up.

nomadbatterypack4
When charging your ‌iPhone‌ with the Battery Cable, it will charge up your ‌iPhone‌ before charging up the included battery pack. The battery pack itself is made from a durable aluminum while the kevlar construction of the cable will ensure that the Battery Cable lasts for a long time to come.

Good product for travel when you don’t want to keep track of multiple accessories. Main issue is that you lose the battery pack once the cable itself deteriorates. Replaceable cable ends would solve this issue.

This seems kind of silly. Using this as main cable would put a lot of extra cycles on its battery. Maybe this could be good for ultra-light backpacking and traveling in-general, though.

Just another fat lightning connector, that won’t fit to many cases’ port hole.

For that price, we can get a decent battery pack with cables with change to spare.
So, how shall we justify that price?
Its because this product is not for someone who wants to deal with a battery pack and cables, say a business traveler.

Its like saying why get a Range Rover when you can get a Suzuki Sidekick with change to spare.
