'DirecTV Now' Offering 32GB Apple TV 4K at No Cost When Signing Up for 4-Month Service at $140 [Updated]

With DirecTV Now's latest offer, if you sign up for four months of the streaming TV service at an upfront cost of around $140, you'll get the 32GB Apple TV 4K at no cost. DirecTV Now starts at $35/month for the "Live a Little" package, which adds up to $140 for four months of service (without any additions like HBO or Showtime). Higher tiers increase to $50/month, $60/month, and $70/month with more channels added to each.

If you opt for the lowest tier, you can get Apple's latest Apple TV 4K device for just $140, which is $40 cheaper than its traditional price point of $180 at Apple and other retailers. If you take advantage of the savings and eventually decide you don't want to continue paying for DirecTV Now, you can cancel the service at any time on the company's website.

The sale is for new customers signing up to DirecTV Now, but existing subscribers can likely use another email and credit card combination to get the Apple TV 4K at no cost. The offer will last through the end of 2017, requires a credit card or PayPal payment, and will see the Apple TV 4K delivered in around three weeks from the order date.

Here's more of the fine print, which also mentions that DirecTV Now does not currently support 4K HDR content streaming:

4K Apple TV (32 GB): Must prepay first four months of service at full price. Non-refundable. Online orders will be shipped via FedEx ground to address provided at point of sale. Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Offer limited to 1 per DIRECTV NOW account; 2 per household. Not combinable with select offers. 4k HD not avail. w/DIRECTV NOW.

To get started, visit DirecTV Now's website, click "Redeem and Stream," and within the sign-up process you'll encounter the "Special Offer" section with mention of the Apple TV 4K deal. A lot of you are really misunderstanding what the advantages of this deal and how it works. For anyone wanting an ATV4K this is a great deal regardless of dtvnow. And if you bought last years deals and want this years deal but don’t want to lose the grandfathered $35 plan. If you bothered to read the article before commenting you would know that it’s 2 ACCOUNTS PER HOUSEHOLD.

And if you’re doing this just for the ATV4K like myself. You should absolutely immediate cancel your subscription after sign up so it doesn’t automatically renew. That’s how their system works! You prepay for 4 months in advance. So canceling right after sign up only cancels auto renew.

User should not be able to comment on articles unless they’ve read them. It makes it hard to get useful info in addition to what’s in the article.

I did this last year for the ATV4 when it was only $35/mo for the higher (highest?) tier and you only had to pay three months in advance. It was pretty nice to get an extra one for an older downstairs TV.

I'd cancel service and have my wife sign up to get this but I'm grandfathered at $35/mo and don't want to lose that. Still seems like a discount if you sign up for another account and then cancel it after four months. Maybe you could gift the service to friends or family if they already have an ATV4/4K.

Also, it's pretty hilarious that they're doing this and yet don't even support 4K yet. Knowing them it will probably be years.

What's the catch? I know there's a catch.

"Corporate generosity" is an oxymoron.
There is no catch, and it’s not corporate generosity. They’re trying to get people to try out their service.

Wondering the same and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the only discount offered on any ATV.
I wanted a new homekit hub because my ATV3 doesn't give me all the options I need. Having another subscription service is a pain to remember to cancel. Can you cancel this right after your ATV 4K is shipped?

Wow, not a bad deal, especially for anyone wanting to try out DTVNow service.

I took advantage of their free 4th-gen ATV last time around. Maybe I should do it again with a different email address XD
