Apple has extended its Back to School promotion to countries in Europe, offering a free pair of Beats Solo2 Wireless Headphones with eligible purchases.

At the beginning of June, Apple launched its annual Back to School promotion in the U.S. and Canada, offering the headphones to qualifying students and select others that purchase an eligible Mac, iPhone, or iPad Pro with education pricing.

The same offer is now open to higher education students in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and other countries in Europe. To qualify for the Beats Solo2 cans, customers must purchase an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro or MacBook Air.

Apple is also offering a free pair of Powerbeats2 Wireless Headphones with the purchase of an eligible iPhone or iPad with education pricing, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone SE, and the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 2, and both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The offer can be taken up online and at brick-and-mortar Apple Stores and is available through to September 5, 2016. Apple has outlined the full eligibility requirements for the program in its terms and conditions, available at the bottom of the promotion pages on Apple's country-specific sites.

This kinda sucks. They want you to purchase outdated hardware and give you outdated headphones .

After the promotion finishes, Apple will release updated MacBooks . Not cool.

I can see new beats headphones that will pair with iPhone 7 without the headphone jack.

This promotion would have been okay had Apple updated the hardware recently

No it a honest remark why are you whining when given a reduction in price plus s FREE set of ear buds
Free Beats headphones are worse than useless as far as I'm concerned, I think most people with a pair of ears would be happier buying a pair of Sony MDRs at a quarter of the price.

With regards to the discount, pricing has historically stayed static for education and business discounts. The 15% discount and free 3-year hardware warranty has been in place since 2011, and likely a lot earlier too. This HE pricing change has also affected the Apple Business Store, which has meant we are now completely reevaluating pricing and currently clarifying if the change in warranty also affects the business store too.

Regardless, your assertion that because you've always paid full price for Apple products, that means anybody who buys HE discounted Macs is either spoilt, blowing through parents' money, or leeching from the tax payer, is a very rude and ignorant thing to say.

Maybe I'm old but didn't school just finish?
But as Christmas starts in September in the shops, so back to school starts before the previous year has ended.

And back to school is usually a way to clear 'old' stock before the new models get launched. (And as i'm desperate for a new MBP, it can't come too soon!)

Not true for either.

The hardware warranty is still 3 years with HE purchase. The only thing that doesn't come with is the telephone support, which is why they offer AppleCare on purchase. Regardless, this was always the case.

Prices have not increased. It's still 15% off RRP (or more specifically, 14.5%).

The only difference is that you now get free Beats headphones.
WRONG! I'll await your apology shortly:- )

I have given you a concrete example that the macbook 12 has increased to £944 (it was £904 yesterday)
Only ONE year of applecare, as of today (50% discount = £100 if you want 3 years applecare)
