Am I the only one hearing the voice of Steve Jobs?
Probably, given that he's been dead for quite awhile.

Apple is managing so much more complexity these days. It's understandable that it's a tough chore to manage everything, especially when the briefest problem is broadcast across the internets in seconds!

I do agree that Apple needs to be doing an even better job, but I also think it's important to realize that their job is 1000x more difficult than it was 10 years ago.
When you're making the profit Apple is, there's no excuse for poor quality anything. Spend as much money as it takes to achieve the quality people expect and pay for.

Have you ever read this forum? If the longstanding, constant negativity and predictions of doom had much connection to reality, Steve Jobs would've shuttered Apple twenty years ago and taken a job fixing Windows machines at Best Buy.
Puh-leaze! Have you seen Mossberg, Dalrymple, and Gruber complaining about Apple apps before? And Apple already has a spotty reputation when it comes to web services.

That shiny profit Tim's so proud of is due, in large part, to Apple's reputation for making products "that just work". For some unknowable reason (at least to those outside Apple), he's squandering that reputation.

One of these things is not like the others:

Mossberg: Apple’s apps need work ('http://www.theverge.com/2016/2/3/10900612/walt-mossberg-apple-iphone-ios-mac-osx-app-problems')

Dalrymple: About Walt Mossberg and Apple’s app problem ('http://www.loopinsight.com/2016/02/03/about-walt-mossberg-and-apples-app-problem/')

Gruber: Apple’s App Problem ('http://daringfireball.net/2016/02/apples_app_problem')

Apple reports a quarterly profit of $18.4 billion, the largest in history ('http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/26/10828134/apple-earnings-report-first-quarter-q1-2016-record-profit')

Apps are dodgy and services unreliable. Better get your act together, Tim. The natives are getting restless.
