We wrote about the upcoming Angry Birds Space previously, but Rovio today released a new trailer for the upcoming bird vs. pig game.

The trailer features a demonstration of weightlessness and gravity by NASA astronaut Don Pettit, recorded on board the International Space Station -- something that will be key in the actual game. At the end of the trailer, we also see our first gameplay footage. Angry Birds Space's gameplay will involve launching space-helmeted birds around multiple planets with gravitational fields to get the pigs -- perhaps a more complicated physics than the standard Angry Birds games.

Angry Birds Space launches on iOS and the Mac on March 22.

Looks fun and it's cool that Rovio is doing something with NASA, unlike the government.

Had to get that in there ;)

But you know, Rovio is a Finnish company not from USA ;)

It's almost refreshing that they tried something new for once, after what seemed like countless rehashes of the same game :P

I have to say, I think it's very cool that they got a real astronaut on the real space station to demonstrate how a stuffed red angry bird hits a green pig balloon in zero gravity! Since when does NASA help sell video games? Excellent collaboration and I totally agree with the above post about theoretically stimulating some kids to take an interest in physics and science.

I wonder how that would look on a kid's college application when he writes the essay about how he became interested in physics or aerospace engineering.... "I was originally planning a career in creative writing, but I when played Angry Birds: Space and studied NASA's zero gravity YouTube tutorials on sling shot mechanics, I had an epiphany." Of course, I'm laughing to myself right now since I have that dumb Angry Birds song in my head as I'm writing this....:)
