iPhone 4S to Launch in India on November 25th

by

aircel india iphone 4s
As noted by The Next Web, the iPhone 4S appears set to launch in India on November 25th, marking yet another milestone in Apple's fast-moving rollout of the new device. Both Aircel and Airtel appear to be participating in the November 25th launch, with Aircel having already provided public confirmation of the debut.

Aircel first posted a teaser on its official Facebook page announcing that the launch details would be coming soon and then followed that up with an official announcement on Saturday that the chosen date was November 25. Impatient customers will be able to start placing preorders on the carrier’s website from November 18 onwards.

Airtel's participation appears to be unconfirmed at this time, but The Times of India reports that the iPhone 4S will indeed launch on the carrier at 12:01 AM on November 25th.

Aircel and Airtel, both GSM providers, are Apple's two official carrier partners in India.

:D Finally!

It's about time Apple recognized the potential of selling their flagship device to a nation that already boasts more (through sheer numbers alone) potential iPhone customers than the US.

----------

Most university students in the US and UK are from other countries because Anglos in the Anglosphere are innovating new ways to conduct commerce. Apple CLOSED its R&D in India in 2006.

I've had enough of anti-American hatred. We opened ourselves up to the world because we are the most generous people in the history of humanity. The people we let in express unending hatred for us, and have co-opted our government to the point that they have been able to use our military as a machine of destruction to obliterate opponents of globalism.

Even this forum topic which should have little to do with politics is hijacked by people wishing to denigrate the American education system.

I am American and do business in India. What I have encountered there is an abyss of hatred and corruption aimed at Americans and British.

Following is a list of companies ruined or almost ruined by imported Indian labor:

Adaptec – Indian CEO Subramanian Sundaresh fired.
AIG (signed outsourcing deal in 2007 in Europe with Accenture Indian frauds, collapsed in 2009)
AirBus (Qantas plane plunged 650 feet injuring passengers when its computer system written by India disengaged the auto-pilot).
Apple – R&D CLOSED in India in 2006.
Australia’s National Australia Bank (Outsourced jobs to India in 2007, nationwide ATM and account failure in late 2010).
Bell Labs (Arun Netravalli took over, closed, turned into a shopping mall)
Boeing Dreamliner ES software (written by HCL, banned by FAA)
Bristol-Myers-Squibb (Trade Secrets and documents stolen in U.S. by Indian national guest worker)
Caymas – Startup run by Indian CEO, French director of dev, Chinese tech lead. Closed after 5 years of sucking VC out of America.
Caterpillar misses earnings a mere 4 months after outsourcing to India, Inc.
Circuit City – Outsourced all IT to Indian-run IBM and went bankrupt shortly thereafter.
ComAir crew system run by 100% Indian IT workers caused the 12/25/05 U.S. airport shutdown when they used a short int instead of a long int
Deloitte – 2010 – this Indian-packed consulting company is being sued under RICO fraud charges by Marin Country, California for a failed solution.
Dell – call center (closed in India)
Delta call centers (closed in India)
Fannie Mae – Hired large numbers of Indians, had to be bailed out. Indian logic bomb creator found guilty.
GM – Was booming in 2006, signed $300 million outsourcing deal with Wipro that same year, went bankrupt 3 years later
HSBC ATMs (software taken over by Indians, failed in 2006)
Intel Whitefield processor project (cancelled, Indian staff canned)
Lehman (Spectramind software bought by Wipro, ruined, trashed by Indian programmers)
Medicare – Defrauded by Indian national doctor Arun Sharma & wife in the U.S.
Microsoft – Employs over 35,000 H-1Bs. Stock used to be $100. Today it’s lucky to be over $25. Not to mention that Vista thing.
MIT Media Lab Asia (canceled)
PeopleSoft (Taken over by Indians in 2000, collapsed).
PepsiCo – Slides from #1 to #3 during Indian CEO Indra Nooyi’ watch.
Polycom – Former senior executive Sunil Bhalla charged with insider trading.
Qantas – See AirBus above
Quark (Alukah Kamar CEO, fired, lost 60% of its customers to Adobe because Indian-written QuarkExpress 6 was a failure)
Rolls Royce (Sent aircraft engine work to India in 2006, engines delayed for Boeing 787, and failed on at least 2 Quantas planes in 2010, cost Rolls $500m).
SAP – Same as Deloitte above in 2010.
Skype (Madhu Yarlagadda fired)
State of Indiana $867 million FAILED IBM project, IBM being sued
State of Texas failed IBM project.
Sun Micro (Taken over by Indian and Chinese workers in 2001, collapsed, had to be sold off to Oracle).
UK’s NHS outsourced numerous jobs including health records to India in mid-2000 resulting in $26 billion over budget.
Union Bank of California – Cancelled Finacle project run by India’s InfoSys in 2011.
United – call center (closed in India)
Victorian Order of Nurses, Canada (Payroll system screwed up by SAP/IBM in mid-2011)
Virgin Atlantic (software written in India caused cloud IT failure)
World Bank (Indian fraudsters BANNED for 3 years because they stole data).
Uh, how exactly is Dell "ruined" by its call centers being closed in India? From last I remember Dell has been doing quite well.

I believe you need to read up on a little statement that goes like so:

"Correlation doesn't imply Causation."

Read up on it. It'll open your mind up a bit. ;)

Yes, but there are 200,000 millionares (in $US) in Inda. They still don't have many billionares, though in and the rate of weath accumulation is more than double that of the US.
Umm, not to encourage this discussion to go into this direction further, but I must clarify this one last point.

India is the 4th highest in the number of billionaires (last recorded at 55), only behind the US, China, and Russia. Keep in mind, this official tally was recorded on March 2011 by Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/wealth/billionaires/list?country=&industry=-1&state). With an economy growing at 8% per quarter and per year (which is now faster than China due to the recent inflation adjustment policies in China), I would be willing to bet more than my house that the number of billionaires in India certainly went up since March.

Also, India's economy on a PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) GDP basis is the 4th richest in the world. When comparing international economies, many economists divert to official exchange rates, but the PPP GDP is much more realistic for comparing domestic value. And at $4 trillion PPP GDP, the Indian economy is actually faring better than all of Europe, and lags very closely behind Japan, and of course China and the US. (Note that these are months old statistics, and with an economy growing this fast, India's PPP GDP might already have surpassed Japan's PPP GDP).

One last thing: high inflation in India. Due to high inflation in India, everyone's wages are spiraling upwards, giving rise to one of the biggest middle class in the world by sheer numbers alone. However, what hasn't changed is the price of the iPhone, presumably due to the favorable exchange rates for Apple.

Add all these things together, and you get a nation that has one of the biggest potential customer bases. That is, if Apple plays its cards right. Of course, the predominant market in India is pre-paid, and the idea of post paid is as alien to them as the idea of pre-paid on Verizon or AT&T is to us. Still, there are tens of millions of Indians who can afford the off-contract iPhone at 40,000 INR (USD 789) due to the above reasons.
