You Can No Longer Downgrade From iOS 27 to iOS 26

Apple is no longer signing iOS 26.6.2, so if you've upgraded to iOS 27, there is no option to downgrade to a version of iOS 26. ‌iOS 27‌ came out a week ago.

iOS 27 Feature Warm
Software that is "signed" can pass a server-side verification check that Apple performs when a new version of iOS is downloaded. If an update fails the verification check, it can't be installed.

By unsigning software, Apple prevents customers from installing outdated, less secure versions of iOS.

If you haven't installed ‌iOS 27‌ yet, you can still keep using ‌iOS 26‌, but once you've upgraded, there's no going back. You also can't downgrade from ‌iOS 27‌ to iOS 26.7 (which was released alongside ‌iOS 27‌) because iOS 26.7 is an over-the-air update with no restore file available.

I spent the last few months on iOS 26 using a 13 Mini and had constant overheating and battery depleting like watching a countdown. 26.6 didn't really make any difference. Now With iOS 27 I've finally got my phone back. No overheating and battery lasting as long as it did With iOS 18.

I think this is bad news. What about the devices that can’t run iOS 27? Those devices can’t update to the latest version of iOS 26 now. This is not even considering all the things that iOS 27 made worse for people on compatible devices. So people got to try it for not even 2 weeks and now they’re stuck with no way to go back? Gross
No no this only applies to those that can run 27, devices like Intel Macs and A12 iPads will still be getting 26 updates

I decided I won’t be upgrading my 17 Pro. I waited for months, had other 17 PM to compare performance and honestly, I don’t know what speed improvement yall talking about here. All I’ve seen is battery drain, and nope, it is not indexing for 7th day in a week. Sure one can do clean reset and wipe all the data, but like, what the… it is too complicated these days to install those apps over and over again.

iOS 27 is stale and boring. Nothing is upgraded at all. Same stupid FaceTime UI, same fugly Photos app, and the most nasty thing?? They haven’t even given you basic shutter speed controls to native camera app, something any iPhone could do with 3rd party camera, as well as Samsungs had it for ages, I am not even talking about texture and grain controls that they have software-locked for shiny new iPhone 18 Pro.

I am probably gonna sell my iPhone 17 Pro. And go for Samsung instead or even some Chinese phone like Vivo X500. Apple has never respected their customers ever since Cook took over, but this has reached impossible heights in the recent years. I am not gonna wait and look at these software locks and restrictions until my phone finally becomes a non-functional slow brick. Am I a toddler to this company or what?? I WANT TO DO what I want to do with my phone, it is my phone, no matter what their ******* user agreement says, I DON’T rent this phone, I bought it. If I want to downgrade, it should be allowed.

Oh btw. Liquid ▶️ass. It is still there. Slightly tuned, but overal, phone still looks like abomination from 2013 they called iOS 7. Like… look at these icons!!! I bet their brainlet Siri AI can design a better icon than their human designers from Cupertino flying disk. And you can’t even change icons, you can only make them transparent, colorize, but not change completely (not considering this hack with Shortcuts, it slows down opening of the app).

And speaking of AI. Honestly I hate AI, I use this slop machine often but in reality I dislike most AI features, as well as what this slop had done to electronics prices, RAM and especially storage. Now Apple thinks AI refraiming and extension of images are killer-features… like what?? Who cares, it is generative slop that uses distant web servers and lots of kilowatts of power for nothing, literally nothing! Apple is slow cooking the planet and saying they “are the most green company” lol. Laughable. This iOS 27 literally throws this AI in your face. Waitlists? I had none, Apple slop was available to me right when I was testing it on another device. And even with power of Gemini… it can’t really do a thing lol. AI for the sake of happy shareholders and aggressive traders who are triggered with every single mention of the word “AI”
