This year, as is often the case, iPhone color rumors have been all over the place. It's not that there's no consensus regarding which colorway Apple will headline for the iPhone 18 Pro models – it's a lack of agreement about the possible colors that could join it.
Last year, the iPhone 17 Pro gave us the unmistakable headline color Cosmic Orange, as well as Silver and Deep Blue. The iPhone 18 Pro, by all accounts, will swap out Cosmic Orange with Dark Cherry – a deep red finish with a tinge of purple in it rather than a straight dark red shade.
This much now seems certain. How many other colors feature alongside it is the question.
Early rumors suggested Apple would break out of its three-color mold by also offering Light Blue, Silver, and an additional dark grey colorway. But more recent rumors have soured on the latter flavor. Dark grey rumors gradually gave way to black.
More recently, however, black as a fourth color has been poo-pooed, and we appear to be back to a simple trio of colors: Dark Cherry, Silver, and Light Blue.
For what it's worth, reading the rumor cycle tea leaves, we believe this last punt is the correct one – so start twinning your favorite color out of the three with a protective case that ultimately conceals it anyway.
Expect to learn Apple's true colors at its "Surprise and shine" event on Wednesday, September 9, where the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to debut alongside a foldable iPhone, dubbed "iPhone Ultra."
