Apple Seeds First Beta of watchOS 8.4 to Developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 8.4 beta to developers for testing purposes, with the new software coming four days after the release of watchOS 8.3.

watchOS 8 on Apple Watch feature
To install watchOS 8.4, developers will need to download the configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center. Once installed, ‌‌‌‌watchOS 8‌‌‌‌ can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software update.

To update to new software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life, it must be placed on the charger, and it needs to be in range of the ‌‌‌‌iPhone‌‌‌‌.

We don't yet know what's new in the watchOS 8.4 update, but if new features are found, we'll update this article.

Does anyone know why they skipped 8.2
They figured there was no point in releasing it.

Had the same issue with 8.3 - just got my 3 in 1 out of drawer to check whether 8.4 b1 took care of it.

[edit] Hey, it worked!!! On 8.3, there was no way to make it charge my watch. Now (at least for now) it worked like the Apple’s charger. Will let my watch charge overnight to see what happens.

Have they fixed the charging issue with 3rd party chargers?

EDIT: At least with my 3-in-1 charger (a relatively inexpensive model from Amazon), 8.4 does not seem to have made a difference. This charger worked fine with my Series 6 until I installed 8.3, so it the update certainly seems to be the source of the problem.
