It doesn't make sense to buy AppleCare+ in a lump sum if you change every year.
Sure doesn't. Just like it doesn't make sense to buy a new phone every year.

Actually it makes total sense. If you're paying monthly at 0% interest you pay the same amount no matter which phone you have, so you may as well have the newest available. Finance people would tell you it makes no sense not to do this.

If AppleCare were a good investment for the consumer Apple WOULD NOT be offering it to you.

Applecare. A sucker bet unless you are prone to the dropsies.
I'm always a bit conflicted on whether or not AppleCare+ is worth it for a new product. It's a nice peace of mind to have because Apple is really good with replacing devices, but if I don't need it (which I almost never do) then it's just $199 of pure profit for Apple with no benefit to me.

Just double checked, and this is the same price I paid for APP+ on my 11 last year. Man, remember when AppleCare for iPhone was like $69? #memories
