Leaked 13.3" MacBook Pro Specs Suggest No Retina Display, Addition of USB 3.0, and Only Minor Changes

A photo posted to Chinese forum Weiphone claims to reveal the specs for an upcoming 13.3" MacBook Pro revision from Apple. The specs show only minor improvements to the 13.3" MacBook Pro model with the addition of a 2.5GHz Ivy Bridge processor along with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. The image also reveals the addition of Bluetooth 4.0 and the faster USB 3.0 standard to the Mac laptop line.

Other specs, however, remain the same as the current generation 13" MacBook Pro. Notably, the screen resolution remains the same at 1280x800 rather than incorporating a high resolution "Retina Display". RAM, Hard Drive and SuperDrive specs also remain the same, suggesting that there also hasn't been a dramatic space-saving thinning of the design.

The authenticity of the image is impossible to verify. The claim by the original forum poster is that the image came from a "friend inside Apple".

Apple is expected to launch new products at the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) next week. Revised MacBook Pros using the Ivy Bridge processors have been expected. Rumors, however, have suggested that we may be seeing more dramatic upgrades to at least some of the models.

Update: Additional Sketchy 15" MacBook Pro Specs from same forum post.

I'd be embarrassed to present that at the WWDC.

leaked 13 3 macbook pro specs suggest addition of usb 3 0 and only minor changes image

I just played with effects in Photoshop in hope of proving this was shopped. Unfortunately, it looks very real and some details like the fact that the label SKU (bottom right) and weight (2.06kg instead of 2.04kg) are slightly different make it look real :(.

I'd like to be proved this is an elaborate fake, but it's not looking good. Perhaps Apple would release only a redesigned 15" and keep the current 13" for a generation until the 13" MBA finally replaces it, kind of like the white MacBook that they kept alongside the Aluminium MacBook introduced in 2008.

Here's your fake label, did it in 10 minutes as I said was possible.

See? Simple. Print it out, fold it to get that little crease, slap it on anything white, and you have Apple fans in chaos.

Firstly, that is not a comp, it's a real shot image, so comparing the grain etc isn't really going to get us anywhere.

Secondly, are we all so used to digital everything now that we're overlooking the simple task of printing out a self designed image and shooting it?

That seems the most likely scenario here, however, that said I do think that is a feasible spec bump, perhaps there hasn't been enough time to test retina displays with the new specs we are all hoping for to ensure they don't suffer more screen discolouration returns in the next six months.

Regardless, I know I'll be buying an iMac and 13" MBP come release day, but the spec will only differentiate whether or not I go for a new 21.5" iMac or a refurb 27".

This site would be ever so boring if we didn't all get over-hyped and every prediction we had was right!

Do you know how easy that is to fake? I could do that in Photoshop in 10 minutes.

Maybe, maybe not? The noise in the photo looks pretty uniform. To my eyes, there's nothing about it that looks really fake.

Here's a challenge - can you take that photo, edit it so that the specs are a bit more impressive, and then post the results? :)

Can anyone? Surely on a Mac-oriented forum there has to be some Photoshop wizard who could do this?
